Sophia Rose Turns SIX

Dear Sophia,

Tomorrow (Saturday) you turn SIX. I can't believe how the past six years seems to have flown by yet when I look at your baby pictures, it seems so long ago. Time is funny in that way, I suppose. I still remember your full head of shocking black hair, chocolate brown, almost black eyes and the chubbiest cheeks that were best for smothering with kisses.

You may be small but like the saying goes, you pack a whole lotta punch in one small body. You are turning into quite the inquisitive, kind, curious, generous, and big hearted little lady. You tend to be shy and quiet around people you don't know and reserve your silly, spunky side for those who you trust and love. Likewise, you are cautious going into a new situation, you have to observe, check things out and make sure they're safe before you jump in.

Despite your more timid nature, you are a girl's girl. You love being around your friends and your favorite part of school is recess and gym. You keep to 2-4 close friends and love to dress up, and ask me if your outfit matches. You love being "fancy" but don't mind getting your hands and feet dirty. I can find you outside dressed to the max with a crown on and your hands in the dirt, digging for "treasure."

Everyday you amaze me with your insight into things I didn't have a clue you even had on your radar. Everyday I fall into your dark brown eyes.
Everyday you make me smile at your sassiness and sometimes dramatics
Everyday I fall more in love with you, even more than what I could ever imagine possible
Everyday you melt my heart when I see you protect and love on your baby sister

So, today we celebrate YOU my love and hope you know just how special and loved you are today and everyday!

Love,

Mommy

(She asked me just the other day if she should start calling me mom... my heart about broke. I told her she can call me whatever she wants to call me- she said, "Ok, I'll still call you Mommy."

Friday Favorites- Birthday Parties

FRI-YAY! SO good to see you again!
I thought since I've been in the middle of birthday party planning, I would share my FAVORITE birthday party themes we've done so far by linking up with Andrea from Momfessionals

Let it Go, Let it Go, Let it GOOOOOO

Despite being pretty sick of Frozen at this point, I loved this party theme!

*PS- can we all just look at that precious 4 year old who is going to turn SIX this Summer?!

Oh Saideybug. You have a special place in my heart and will forever be my little lady. I can't believe she is going to be turning three soon. (insert sobbing emoji) Literally, I can't stop and think about the fact that she is going to be three for too long or I will be reduced to a blubbering mess.

Ok... sorry, moving on....

Her 2nd birthday party was so much fun to plan but the best part?! That cake!

ICE CREAM SUNDAE BAR
From an early age, Sophia had a sweet tooth. So, it was only appropriate that for her second birthday, we had an ice cream theme.

Unfortunately, I was not actively blogging at the time but I do have these pics to share...

And I don't have any pictures of the actual ice cream sundae bar.. bummer. But just imagine, ice cream and all the toppings! A super fun (and yummy) theme!

Out of all the parties we've thrown, this one MIGHT be my MOST favorite.

So, there you have it- some birthday inspiration!

Check out my birthday board on Pinterest for more inspiration! I am currently planning a "Garden Party" for Saidey's 3rd birthday party and a flamingo pool party for Sophia's sixth.

Enjoy the weekend!

Weekend Recap- Productive Edition

Whew! What a weekend... this quote pretty much sums it up for me..

Am I right?!
On Friday, in usual Scholtes style, we did our weekly pizza night at Red Rossa

On Saturday, we woke up bright and early and after a breakfast of cheesy eggs we started our shopping for Sophia's BERRY FUN BIRTHDAY PARTY next weekend! :)

Sneak peek of her birthday shirt made by Lincoln and Lexi- a must for any customizable child's item!

Much to our dismay, Party City, home to every theme and character known to man had NO Strawberry Shortcake stuff. So, we ordered some from their website and are praying to the Snail Mail God's that our party favors arrive in time for next weekend.

Since her party is going to be outside and the forecast for that day is a scorcher- we got some water balloons and I found this fun game that we're going to play to hopefully beat the heat!

On Saturday afternoon, we painted our downstairs half bath. Our home is mostly neutral and so almost 6 years later, we're ready to add some pops of color. :)

The finished product! It's a little shocking right now but I'm really loving the bright, fun color!

On Sunday, I woke up bright and early and got laundry going. After breakfast, it was clean, clean, clean in preparation for family coming on Friday to stay through the weekend. After nap, was FUN TIME! The girls and I headed outside and played in the water table and then after dinner, we just had to celebrate National Ice Cream Day by going for a treat at DQ. Who am I kidding?! Like we need an excuse to get ice cream! :) The girls finished their ice cream outside and rode bikes/scooters until bath time.

#nationalicecreamday

It was a full weekend and next weekend is no exception! I don't even want to talk about the fact that my first born is turning FIVE this week! FIVE! I know people turn FIVE every day and so it's not a huge deal. BUT MY LITTLE GIRL WILL BE FIVE! I keep saying to myself, " I just can't believe she is going to be FIVE!" And then to Will- "Can you believe she will be FIVE?!" I know, just tell me to stop it already!

Have a great week and I'll see you all back here on Thursday to share some pictures of the past five years of having Sophia in our lives. And a little teaser...

I mean. I just can't even.

July Goals

Why, hello there JULY! It's hard to believe you are here already! I always feel as if Summer is practically over once the July 4th holiday comes and goes. Last month, I shared my June goals and I wanted to share how I did as well as share my goals for the next month.

Here goes!

1. Make Sophia's Kindergarten physical appointment- DONE! I am terrible at making appointments and a master at putting it off. I made myself do it on Monday. Cutting it close but it got done!

2. Clean out/organize all closets- I actually got this goal almost all completed. I was able to clean out and organize our hall closet, linen closet, basement storage, pantry and both the girls' and our closet. We took two large loads to Goodwill and it felt great. We still have some things we need to take to Goodwill but I'd say this was a success!

3. Clean all mini blinds- OOPS- this was not completed, guess it will just be added to my July goals

4. Clean out freezer- DONE and it is amazing at what a clean freezer looks like! :)

5. No Spend Challenge- If you ask Will, he would say I failed. Did I spend absolutely NO money during the month of June? I'd be outright lying if I said yes. BUT, this challenge did provide me the chance to really curb my impulsive buying. I REALLY thought about EACH AND EVERY purchase I was making and I really did end up spending less than normal. So, for me, it was a success.

Now, for my July goals

July is super busy for us ( I feel like I say that each month) as we have Sophia's birthday and birthday party, we welcome a new furry family member and need to prep for that and we still need to cross some things off our Summer bucket list.

Our bushes outside our house are dying ( I'm really good at killing things off) and we need to replace them. We can replace them with "anything that looks good" per our association's policy. Any suggestions? As you may guess, shrubbery and greenery are not my forte.

And that's it! Having monthly goals makes me not only feel productive but to get it out of my head and onto paper makes it seem so much more manageable!

Nothing says Summer quite like fresh berries

How adorable are these invites? This year, Sophia helped choose the invitation she wanted. She picked a good one! :) Stay tuned for more birthday planning details! I ordered these invites on Etsy
HAPPY JULY EVERYONE!
