You went to bed tonight as a 7 year old and will wake up as an 8 year old. I can't believe how quickly the last 8 years have flown by. You amaze me everyday with your insight, kindness, and humor.

31 Things About Me
Hey y'all! My 31st is here! 30 has been SO good to me, so 31 has big shoes to fill! I thought since last year I shared 30 things I've learned so far, I would simply share 31 things about me that you may not know! 31 is such a dud age- nothing too exciting about turning 31 but I'll be in Chicago so we will make it fun!

Happy 4th Birthday Saidey Bug
Saidey,
Today, you turn another year older. I just wanted to share a few things about you that I hope you will love to read about when you're older. I'm sure you may roll your eyes too, when I say that I just can't believe you are FOUR YEARS old. The last four years have FLOWN by and while my mama heart is so sad to see those baby years fly by, I know there are still SO many exciting firsts for you. Because, with every year you grow older, comes new firsts. First day of school, first loose tooth, first time you ride your bike without training wheels, first time you go to a sleepover all by yourself... I could go on and on. So, I will remember that as we celebrate your birthday this weekend.

Happy 7th Birthday Sophia Rose
Sophia,
You're turning 7 this year and I can hardly believe it ( I know, I know, I say this every year!) And like years before, you amaze me with your ability to turn me to mush with one look into those big, brown, almost black eyes of yours. As each year goes by, you are turning into one lovely, simply amazing young lady. You feel BIG and you love BIG. You do everything with such intention and grace and can get frustrated if you don't get something right away. This can be hard for you but you are working really hard to keep preserving, even if you get frustrated.

A Magical Unicorn 4th Birthday Party
Happy Monday friends! I'm finally posting about Saidey's birthday party! It was a super fun day and my lack of pictures shows that. Some of the pictures aren't the best but the joy and happiness shows through. =)

30 Things I've Learned in 30 Years...
It's that time of the year again when I start to reflect on life and where I'm at. Do I like the direction life is going? What have I learned? Where am I going? Birthdays never seemed like a huge deal in the past.. just another day and another excuse for cake (like I needed an excuse) but this year feels a little different. I am turning THIRTY guys. THIRTY. Ohmygoodness. I can't even believe it. I can't believe I am THIRTY which is only five years away from 35 which is a mere hop, skip and jump to 40! Catastrophizing at its best. Thanks to my fellow co worker, Jessica for defining that for me. #therapistproblems
Anyway, now that I am one year wiser, I'd like to share the thirty things I've learned so far about this imperfect, perfectly messy and beautiful life of mine. Here goes nothin'.
1) Eat the cake. Seriously. Life is too short to NOT eat the freakin' cake. Or ice cream. Or both- what the heck! Indulge yourself. It's ok.
2.) Fear is good. It means beautiful things are about to happen. Embrace the fear. Go with the fear. If you aren't scared out of your ever loving mind- something's wrong. Just go with it and watch beautiful things happen.
3.) Be intentional. I think that should have been my word for 2016. Being intentional in positive thinking. Intentional on choosing happy. Intentional on being kind. Intentional in my responses to family, friends and my kids.
4.) You need friends. Those 24/7's. Your people. They're almost as important as the air you breathe. It's all about quality vs. quantity, here too.
5.) Chips and salsa is a meal
6.) Being comfortable in your own skin and owning everything about yourself is a process. But as each year passes, it gets easier and easier
7.) Find your thing. You know, the thing that lights a fire within you. The thing that you can't go a day without doing. For me- it's writing and reading.
8.) Some people are assholes. Simple as that. No complex diagnosis. No complex explanation. Just an asshole. And you know what? That's ok.
9.) Getting financials under control is definitely not the most glamorous. But it's important, even if you think you have all the time in the world. Just get it over with and get those finances on track!
10.) You can only control your reaction to certain people and situations. Once you realize this, your life will become a whole lot simpler.
11.) Travel is good for the soul. It rejuvenates you and opens your eyes to the ways we as humans are much more alike than different.
12.) Reacting vs. responding. Two VERY different things. Learning how to differentiate between the two and then acting accordingly can be so.hard. But I'd go as far to say it can be life changing once you know the difference and see it play out in your life.
13.) We all have stuff. Everybody has a story. Taking the time to know their story and getting below the surface, you will only find you connect and empathize with them on a deeper, newer level
14.) Pinterest.(and yes, that is it.)
15.) Even though you are close to 30, it's ok to still jam out to MMMBop and Spice Girls
16.) It's a total cliche. But family is family. They are the constant in life. No matter what, Crazy Aunt Susie will always be Crazy Aunt Susie and you wouldn't have it any other way.
17.) Listen to your gut. Always, always. It will always tell you what direction to go.
18.) Always keep learning. About the world. About yourself.
19.) Less is more (in every sense)
20.) From Brene Brown: "I'll never know if people are doing the best they can or not. But when I assume people are, it makes my life better."
21) Goals. Make them.
22.) You can't please everyone and that's ok
23.) Being vulnerable doesn't make you weak. It facilitates change, compassion and connection
24.) Comparison is the worst.
25.) Invest in staple items in your closet. It is worth the money.
26.) You might like those amazing heels but your feet don't. So quit trying.
27.) Say yes
28.) It's ok to use your kids as an excuse to get out of something
29.) Wait to worry. "The average worrier is 92% ineffecient- only 8% of what we worry about ever comes true." Fred Smith
30.) Love and live with your whole being.
There you have it! The 30 life lessons I've learned in life so far. What would you add?
5.) Chips and salsa is a meal

Birthday Weekend Recap (And some exciting news!)
Hey guys! We celebrated Sophia's SIXTH birthday on Saturday. She flamingoed and swam and had so much fun with family and friends! We truly have some of the best family around- some hosted the party at their pool and helped get decorations, others came from 6 or 7 hours away and some helped with ensuring no one drowned and everyone was safe while swimming. AMAZING family! We are truly beyond blessed.
So I'll quit babbling and just get on with it... here are the pics of the party. I don't have a lot as most of the time we were in the pool.
BIRTHDAY GIRL!!
Ready to party!
We're missing a little lady in this picture...
This girl is EXTREMELY BLESSED
FLAMINGOed OUT!
Again, THANK YOU to everyone who made it the party and helped us celebrate Sophia. She had such a fun time!
We have been sitting on some exciting news but just haven't shared it publicly yet. After a lot (like 3 years) of deliberation and consideration we decided to sell our townhome! It officially went on the market yesterday! We are so excited about this but with returning from Italy, planning a birthday party and getting a house ready to sell- things have been a little crazy around here. We are trying our best to maintain a routine for the kiddos as much as possible with showings (we've had two and one scheduled already!) and going to see homes as well. For those who know me, know that this is a BIG decision for me! I'm not a HUGE fan of change and this is a BIG change for our family.
We love our townhome but are missing a backyard area and 3rd bedroom. We hope to find a home that is comparable to ours but with those main features. Wish us luck! =)
Soooo, if anyone knows anyone who is looking for an amazing townhome in an even more amazing location- share this link with them! =)

Sophia Rose Turns SIX
Dear Sophia,
Tomorrow (Saturday) you turn SIX. I can't believe how the past six years seems to have flown by yet when I look at your baby pictures, it seems so long ago. Time is funny in that way, I suppose. I still remember your full head of shocking black hair, chocolate brown, almost black eyes and the chubbiest cheeks that were best for smothering with kisses.
You may be small but like the saying goes, you pack a whole lotta punch in one small body. You are turning into quite the inquisitive, kind, curious, generous, and big hearted little lady. You tend to be shy and quiet around people you don't know and reserve your silly, spunky side for those who you trust and love. Likewise, you are cautious going into a new situation, you have to observe, check things out and make sure they're safe before you jump in.
Despite your more timid nature, you are a girl's girl. You love being around your friends and your favorite part of school is recess and gym. You keep to 2-4 close friends and love to dress up, and ask me if your outfit matches. You love being "fancy" but don't mind getting your hands and feet dirty. I can find you outside dressed to the max with a crown on and your hands in the dirt, digging for "treasure."
Everyday you amaze me with your insight into things I didn't have a clue you even had on your radar. Everyday I fall into your dark brown eyes.
Everyday you make me smile at your sassiness and sometimes dramatics
Everyday I fall more in love with you, even more than what I could ever imagine possible
Everyday you melt my heart when I see you protect and love on your baby sister
So, today we celebrate YOU my love and hope you know just how special and loved you are today and everyday!
Love,
Mommy
(She asked me just the other day if she should start calling me mom... my heart about broke. I told her she can call me whatever she wants to call me- she said, "Ok, I'll still call you Mommy."

A Birthday Letter
Saideybug,
You are turning three tomorrow. You have brought such light and joy to our lives and I couldn't imagine a life where there wasn't a smiling Saidey in it. (Or your blanket). You are seriously rambunctious, light hearted, ultimately mischievous and one of the best snugglers I've ever known.
You, my girl are growing so fast and I can just feel those baby years slipping away from me. But, the more I see you grow and change, the more excited I am to see what life has in store for you- or in your case, what YOU have in store for it.
Love always,
Mama
You are turning three tomorrow. You have brought such light and joy to our lives and I couldn't imagine a life where there wasn't a smiling Saidey in it. (Or your blanket). You are seriously rambunctious, light hearted, ultimately mischievous and one of the best snugglers I've ever known.
You've been coming into our room at night since you were around 18 months old and you would stand at the edge of the bed, clutching your blanket, raising your arms up to be picked up, patiently waiting for me to clumsily wake up and bring you to bed with me. Every day still, without fail, you come in, clutching your blanket. I throw you over the edge of the bed, move over and drift back to asleep again with my arms wrapped around you, kissing your sweet cheeks or forehead. Of course, you are already falling back to sleep. I wake in the morning, sometimes with a foot on my head or an elbow in my ribs and am all but falling out of the bed because you've taken over my spot, I STILL wouldn't change it for the world.
You adore your sister and praise the ground she walks on. You follow her around, want whatever she wants and let her boss you around. She is your idol. But don't worry- you are your own unique individual and you let us know it. You have an opinion about everything and will let your voice be heard if you feel something is unjust. Please don't let that part of you change.
You are a go getter, unafraid of dangers like falling or high countertops. You will see something high and figure out a way to get to it. You will tinker around and manage to get yourself on the counter, a dresser or even in a sink to wash your feet. You love messes and think life's better when it involves anything you can mash between your fingers, smearing it on the table, your hair and clothes, or the carpet.
Love always,
Mama
